A shift in one's viewpoint that allows for different aspects of an issue or theory to be taken in account.
Reframing has been a characteristical mental and conceptual attitude in epistemology and even in specific scientific disciplines all along the 20th century.
It is highly visible in scientists and thinkers as different as MARX, PLANCK, EINSTEIN, BERTALANFFY, BACHELARD, KORZYBSKI, etc., and more recently D. BÖHM and M. FOUCAULT and of course H.von FOERSTER and MATURANA and VARELA.
Reframing has also been extensively used by the Merida School of Interpretive Systemology in Venezuela for the study of social issues in that country.
Such a mind stretching strategy by which the very methodology of inquiry is expanded in order to avoid multiple contradictions leaves lingering doubts about the nature of human understanding , at least as it was firmly and strongly believed to be in classical thinking until at least the end of the 19th century.
