Abstract

Step into the world of 2565, where technology has reached a pinnacle of artificial intelligence which intertwines with every aspect of life. The mundane task of waking up has transformed into an exciting experience. As you rise from your bed, your personal AI assistant takes charge of planning your day, from meal scheduling to skincare routine to entertainment. In this world, the boundary between reality and virtual reality is blurred, and the physical and digital worlds coexist seamlessly.

Novel

The alarm clock rings and gives a speech about the current weather. After Fred wakes up in his sleeping clothes and clicks the turn-off button, the alarm clock provides the following information: "Today you slept fully for 7 hours, 58 minutes, and 43 seconds. I advise you to go to bed earlier and turn off your blue screen devices an hour before bedtime to get a full 8 hours of sleep." While lying in bed, Fred looks out the window to see the rainforest, which he chose as a display before going to bed. He quickly switches the display to the mountain range of Switzerland. In the background, the AC switches to a normal room temperature and asks Fred if he wants to switch to the actual temperature in the Swiss mountains for a full experience. Fred dismisses the machine's suggestion while slowly getting up from the spotless floor, which was intensely vacuumed and disinfected by a small pet robot. He then asks the room about his meetings for the day. An Artificial Intelligence voice responds with a list of all his to-dos for the day. Fred thanks the AI and asks it to inform him if there are any changes to the plans. The AI responds positively and wishes him a great start to his day. As Fred gets up from bed, a display in front of his face shows a list of meals that can be made with the current supplies in his apartment. The display suggests healthy meals to keep his body in good condition. However, Fred is not satisfied with the meal options and asks his personal AI if it can order the necessary supplies for his favorite meal. The AI gives him a time frame and informs him that he would be 10 minutes late for his first meeting if he waits for the supplies. Fred compromises with the suggested meal from the top of the list.

After selecting his meal, the kitchen begins creating it and provides a time frame for when the meal will be ready. As Fred gets up, he takes six steps to his bathroom. In the middle of the shower, which is shaped like a hexagon with jets on all sides, he gives a vocal command to his AI to start the shower. The AI scans his body and offers vocal suggestions on how intense the shower should be. However, Fred is not in the mood to decide and lets the AI choose the best option for him. The AI suggests he close his eyes and hold his hand up, then counts down from five before starting the process. First, a chemical is spread from the jets, dissolving his sleeping clothes into a fluid that easily flows down the drain. Next, an intense shampoo is spread over his body, leaving him smelling like a fresh flower from the Garden of Eden. Fred then feels the perfect temperature of the water hitting his skin. Finally, the AI asks him if he wants another intense round of washing, which he dismisses. In response, the AI dries him off with wind blows from the jets. As Fred finishes his shower, he steps out onto the heated tiles and moves to the mirror. The mirror displays a personalized news feed, summarizing the latest events in the world. After using his smart toothbrush, Fred asks his AI for a facial scan to check for any signs of aging such as wrinkles. The AI analyzes his skin with advanced technology and provides a detailed report on any problem areas. Fred takes this information into account and adjusts his skincare routine accordingly. He uses moisturizers and other products recommended by the AI to prevent wrinkles and maintain youthful-looking skin.

While on his way to the kitchen, the AI notifies Fred that his food is ready, and it comes with a side of black coffee, which he has been enjoying the same way for the past years. Fred enjoys his meal, savoring every bite while the AI suggests various options for him to do in addition to eating. Eventually, Fred decides to watch his favorite show, a 20-minute episode, but he is left unsatisfied with the ending. The AI notices Fred's disappointment and offers to create an alternate ending. Excited by the idea, Fred provides the AI with specific instructions on how the ending should be. In just ten seconds, the AI uses its advanced technology to create a new, personalized ending to the episode, perfectly timed with the last bite of Fred's meal. Feeling satisfied, Fred leaves his plate and cup on the table and heads to the door for work. As he leaves his apartment, Fred picks up his AR glasses, which have his personal AI integrated. The glasses provide real-time information about his surroundings, including directions, landmarks, and places of interest. The AI reminds him of his first meeting and provides directions to the location. Fred is grateful for the reminder and directions, as he had almost forgotten about the meeting in his busy schedule. He makes his way to the meeting, feeling energized and ready to tackle the day ahead.

While on his way to his office, Fred engages in a conversation with his AI glasses about the company's demand that he come into the office at least twice a month. He expresses his frustration, stating that it's unfair and unnecessary, especially considering the advancements in technology that allow for remote work. Fred further expresses his dissatisfaction with the current job market, which he feels is flooded with automation and robots, making it difficult to find fulfilling work. The AI glasses provide him with positive responses, validating his feelings, and offering uplifting quotes to boost his mood while they navigate through the city. As they approach the first cross, the AI glasses suggest different routes to his destination based on Fred's preference for walking or the amount of money he wants to spend on transportation. Fred decides to walk since he still has enough time to make it to his meeting. Along the way, the AI glasses provide him with information about the surrounding area, such as upcoming events and popular restaurants, making the walk more enjoyable. They arrive at the office building just in time for Fred's meeting, and he thanks the AI glasses for their assistance during the commute.  After the meeting, Fred heads back to his digital desk. As he starts his work, he realizes that he has a lot of tasks to complete, and he is not sure which tasks have a higher priority. He turns to his AI assistant and asks for some help with prioritizing his workload. The AI reviews his schedule and suggests a plan of action, starting with the most critical tasks and breaking down each one into manageable steps. After working for half the day, the AI notifies Fred that he needs to take a break. Fred responds positively and asks the AI which restaurants are open around this time and able to deliver him a meal on short notice. The AI filters all the open restaurants and gives Fred a list of suggestions. Fred searches for his favorite meal from a new restaurant offering it. Before placing his order, the AI asks for permission to send the list of items that Fred is allergic to along with the order. After placing his order, the AI notifies Fred of the estimated delivery time. Soon after, the delivery arrives at the building and the delivery person places it in a box, which is then directly delivered to the digital desk of the person who placed the order. When the meal arrives at Fred's desk, he is engrossed in his work, but the AI notifies him of its arrival. As Fred looks at the delivery, the AI asks if he would like to upload a picture of the meal to his social media account, but Fred dismisses the idea and begins to eat his meal. As Fred enjoys his food, the AI suggests various activities he can do during his break, such as watching a movie or listening to music. Suddenly, he receives an invitation to an online face-to-face call with his colleagues who are also having their meals. Fred accepts the meeting, and a display appears in front of him with all his favorite colleagues. After finishing his meal and thanking his colleagues for their time, the AI recognizes that Fred has finished eating and asks him if he would like to give a review of the restaurant. Fred positively replies, giving his own two-minute speech about the food, while the AI records and summarizes his words in a more elegant way. After he finishes, the AI reads the summary out loud and waits for Fred's approval. Fred approves the AI-generated blog and lets it know that it should not give him any further notifications, except for emergencies, until the end of the workday. Later, when the workday comes to an end, Fred steps outside the office.

As soon as he steps out, the AI notifies Fred that he has received 60 new messages from various sources. Fred politely requests the AI to sort the messages and show him only the personal messages and the notifications that require immediate attention. After spending ten minutes going through them all, Fred politely asks the AI to suggest the fastest route home. The AI suggests taking the train as the fastest option, which Fred agrees to and follows the directions given by the AI. While going through the metro gates, the AI asks Fred if it is allowed to buy a train ticket for him, which Fred accepts with a nod. The AI notifies him which ticket was bought for his needs and how long it can be used. While waiting for the train, Fred listens to some music to drown out the sound of people talking to their personal AIs. After getting on the train, the AI sends a notification that the train will be delayed due to human error. While waiting, Fred asks the AI if it can turn on the heating and start cooking his dinner so that it will be ready by the time, he reaches his doorstep. The AI responds positively and suggests that he buy the necessary supplies for the next day. Fred starts purchasing the items online via his glasses, and the AI keeps a list open of the required items as well as the additional items that can be bought for specific dishes or purposes. While in the middle of the shopping spree, the AI notifies Fred that he needs to get off at the next stop. Fred thanks the AI and moves out of the train, heading home.

Upon reaching home and opening the door, he is greeted with a perfectly cooked meal at his preferred temperature and tea, which surprises him as it was done by the AI. While consuming his meal, the AI suggests various options again. This time, Fred tells the AI to go on a dating app and swipe profiles that have at least a 90% personality match with him. The AI starts automated swiping right and left. After 20 minutes, Fred becomes bored and moves to his living room, where the AI suggests different movies for him to watch. After watching the suggested movie, Fred ask his AI when he should head to bed, and the AI suggests that he should go to bed in the next two hours to get a full night's sleep. Once the movie ends, Fred moves to his bed, takes off his clothes, throws them in the bin, and wears a new set of clothes generated for one-time use. Fred finds it difficult to fall asleep while looking at the mountain range on the display, so he asks the AI to suggest a display that will help him fall asleep faster. While Fred is sleeping, the clothes thrown in the bin are washed, dried, and ironed for the following day.

Epilog

In my vision of an ideal Cyberutopia the power of technology and artificial intelligence is harnessed for the greater good of humanity. It empowers individuals to express their freedom more fully by providing them with unlimited access to knowledge and information, while also safeguarding their anonymity. In the described Cyberutopia, the world is decentralized, giving power and autonomy to individuals and communities. This decentralized world is the fundamental aspect of a Cyberutopia.[1]

The book "Diamond Age" by Neal Stephenson describes a dyscybertopia in which the wealthy people have access to education and the latest technology. The latest technology has advanced to a point in which nanomachines can assemble anything from raw materials. This creats an ever-widening gap between the haves and have-nots. This society is highly stratified and fragmented, with little social mobility. On the other hand my imagined cyberutopia of 2565, people live highly automated lives with AI assistants. In summary, while the utopia of 2565 is a world where technology has been harnessed to create a highly automated and personalized experience for individuals, "Diamond Age" portrays a fragmented and unequal society where technological innovations are only available to the privileged few.[2]

Having another look at another written book of "Neuromancer" by William Gibson which describes a dystopian future in which humanity as become fully immersed in virtual reality. The vast majority of people are living in tight spaced that are controlled by corporations and powerful individuals. The world in the book is described as a complex and dangerous place in which the control over information and resources is fought. In this world, there is a constant tension between those who control the technology and those who are subject to it which indicates that only a limited percentage of people have access to education or healthcare, and AI assistants are used only by the privileged few In summary, compared to my imagined utopia Neuromancer, presents a bleak and dystopian future where technology is used only to benefit the wealthy and powerful, creating a society that is unequal, oppressive, and devoid of hope.[3]

By the book of Dave Eggers called “The Circle” a company has become the only service provider regarding communication and entertainment. Their main product is called an App “TruYou” which encourages its customers to be transparent with everything in their life so that they share it with everyone on the App. Due to this fact the concept of privacy has largely disappeared. In addition, the company provides rewards for those who share the most of their private life. As the novel keeps on it becomes clear that the product has led to the erosion of privacy and the loss of personal autonomy. Furthermore, the power and influence of the company has grown to the point with far-reaching implications for both individuals and society as a whole. The novel raises important questions about the role of technology in society and the importance of privacy and personal autonomy. While in my described cyberutopia the AI assistant is still putting a lot of respect on private data which is only shared with other individuals and system by approval of the user. An example would be the ordering of food online in which the user needs to give their approval so that the restaurants know to which he has allergies.[4]
