Any local or specific adjustment which does not take into account the systemic nature of the problem it aims to solve.
Quick fixes frequently suppress some terminal effect of a global maladjustment. In many cases, the ill effect reappears after some time, or propagates in a different way to another part of the system. The tendency to quick fixes is widespread in front of social and economic trouble as well as in case of machine or man-machine maladjustment, and even sometimes in medicine.
It should be replaced by more thoughtful methods, based on a better understanding of the — sometimes hidden — complex interactions within the system.
