The device through which a system becomes able to act on its environment. (Sometimes called “actuator” — J. MILSUM, 1968, p.41)
The effector is the last link indispensable for the working of the regulator. It must be able to receive and interpret or understand the messages sent by the adjustor and to translate them to specific corrective action (A. LOTKA, 1956).
P. VENDRYES has shown that, to be able to operate, an effector must have sufficient qualitative and quantitative reserves (usable internal resources) at its disposal (1942).
