The Gatherings

Grounded in coherence, surfacing clarity Where diverse perspectives meet in understanding, without veils

June 8-12 | Syros (Greece) & online

November 11-13 | Lisbon (Portugal) & online

Post-truth dynamics and various forms of obscurity are undermining the foundations of communication; indeed, given its role in shaping social relations, the very fabric of society is at risk. There is an urgent need to re-anchor communication in truth and to ensure that clarity can flow through our information environments. The critical capacity of citizens—and their ability to cope with the many global challenges our societies face—depends on it.

To this end, we need approaches to assess coherence and clarity, and to integrate them into information practices. The present glossaLAB Workshop is dedicated to these issues. We invite you to join us in discussing, sharing, and testing ideas and approaches in this field.

Invitation to elucidate concepts at glossaLAB

Since it is our purpose the Grounded in coherence, surfacing clarity, and this is woven in the concepts understood from different perspectives, we need to know the meaning of the concepts that participants in the workshop are using when we deal with the matters at stake. In disciplinary settings, the background knowledge (supported by concepts more or less understood by all parts) is relatively transparent. However, in interdisciplinary settings this is often a source of obscurity that prevents us to draw light to the understanding of others. These clarifications fuels our mapping of understanding.

The elucidation activity will be specially supervised during the workshop events, but will remain open for further editing.
