From the phenomenological viewpoint as presented by HUSSERL we perceive what we call “objects” only due to their relative permanence in time (Zeitgegenstand)
This can be compared with the way gravitational fields allow us to perceive space by structuring it.
More generally, we cannot definitely separate matter (objects“), space, time and energy . Anyone of these four phenomenological percepts is absolutely needed to make sense of the others. Their whole is our inevitable basic frame of reference .
From another- but related- viewpoint, our brain reflects this multi-complementary . As to the perceived time flow , the hippocampus is the seat of the short-time memory and the instrument of the development of the long-one. Without its action , we could not remember anything in a mental way. We would not benefit of what HUSSERL calls “retention”.
