Object type Methodology or model

A variable which is “the common causal determinant of the state of both the environment disturbance and the situation at the same time” (S. BEER, 1968, p.285).

The concept was created by G. SOMMERHOFF and reflects the unavoidable fact that any system is linked to a specific environment which may disturb it.

Thus, in many cases, the separateness of a system is partly an illusion (Ibid, p.391), and we should scrutinize its environment whenever an internal disturbance appears.
