The Spanish Society for General Systems was founded in 1982 by a group of Spanish scholars under the leadership of R. RODRIGUEZ DELGADO (its late honorary President), in Madrid.

After publishing for a time a Newsletter, it created the “Revista Internacional de Sistemas” in 1989, which publishes papers in English, French and Spanish related to theoretical and applied systemics and cybernetics.

It also contributed to the organization of so-called Fuschl Conversations in Spain (Alicante; Valencia).

Under the impulse of members of the Template:Ency entity, an Association of Systems was also created in Valencia and, in the same city's University, a Faculty of Systems was created in 1992. It is however mainly oriented to Operation Research and Systems Dynamics.

Another member of Template:Ency entity, J. ARACIL, of Sevilla University, is the main Spanish specialist in Systems Dynamics.

After the death of its founder, the seat of the Template:Ency entity has been transferred to the València University, where interesting applied systems studies are continued, mainly under the leadership of Antonio CASELLES.

The president of the Template:Ency entity is now Lorenzo FERRER, at the same University.

In Madrid the sociologist Francisco PARRA-LUNA (Universidad Complutense) applies systemic concepts and models to his discipline.
