In polymorphic populations, some slightly different morphs may offer better survival. However, the favoured forms stay rare “because the commoner it gets, the more the selective pressure builds against it” (C. TUDGE, 1992, p.25).

In these cases, the survival value is inversely proportional to frequency. Only some change in the ecological context could alter this kind of situation.

It should be interesting to look for similar situations in societies in relation to some uncommon cultural types.
