“When affected by undesirable disturbance the organism changes control so that the (vital) performance indicators (variables) stay within the satisfaction range as long as the disturbances stay within uncertainty sets. Furthermore, any control which accomplishes such a state is equally acceptable” (M. MESAROVIC et al., 1973, p.68).

This principle was enunciated by M. MESAROVIC et al in relation to modeling of biological functions.

It offers a noteworthy similarity with LE CHATELIER Principle, only that its working is more complex, because it implies regulations of regulations, by its dependence from a defined satisfaction range.
