Object type Methodology or model

A characteristic introduced among elements pertaining in common to different parts of a system.

A. BOGDANOV introduced this concept as early as 1922. He explains: “The linkage of two links in a chain is that part of one link which lay inside of the other; and especially the surface of their contact” (1980, p.69).

He adds: “Linkage denotes the 'entry' of elements of one complex into another, and vice versa” (Ibid).

“Complex”, in BOGDANOV's terminology may be considered as meaning approximately “subsystem”.

A linkage implies necessarily a relationship, which may appear only structural, but is generally a dynamic and functional one.
