A behavior “in which two or more members of a group communicate by doing the same thing”. (P.D. Mac LEAN, 1978, as quoted by R. Numella Caine and M. CAINE, 1994, p.61).

A good exmple is wearing a badge of some organization .

“The constitutional part of us that reinforces routine has a powerful means of making it known when there has been a break in routine … In like vein, anything that reinforces routines may have a reassuring, calming effect” (P. D. Mac Lean, Ibid)

Such behavior reinforces in a ritualistic way the coherence of the organization . It seems to be a more elaborate human form of some animal reciprocal signaling in herds , fish shoals , bird flights, etc…
