A process of expansion that reaches a limit and is replaced by a process of contraction.
This is a result from an over-exploitation and exhaustion by the system of the source of inputs.
It is different from the explosive-destructive process although it may also finally destroy the system. It is also different from logistic growth, where a damping or braking feedback leads the system to a situation of asymptotic or dynamic stability.
R. VALLÉE describes a mathematical formalism for the explosive-implosive process (1995, p.63-5).
