The set of connections of a system with elements or systems in its environment (Adapted from M. BUNGE, 1995, p.15).
According to BUNGE, this exostructure includes the inputs and outputs of the system and, together with its internal structure (which he calls endostructure), it constitutes the total structure of the system.
It seems that the exostructure is more variable and less constraining than the endostructure. For example, the internal temperature of a mammal is a much more rigorous constraint than the range of tolerable temperatures in its environment .
