The Chinese Institute of Systems Sciences is established in Beijing.

Under the leadership of Prof. GU JIFA and in collaboration with the Centre for Systems Studies at the University of Hull (UK) a first International Conference was organized in Beijing in 1995. The conference was supported by the National Science foundation of China.

Scholars from China, Japan and the United Kingdom took part in the event and the Proceedings have been published at the University of Hull under the editorship of Gerald MIDGLEY and Jennifer WILBY.

This event signaled in fact the effective entry of the chinese systemists in the international systems community.

In August 2002 the forty sixth Meeting of the Template:Ency entity took place at the Tong Ji University Business School in Shanghai, again in connection with the Univ. of Hull Business School. Prof. Mike Jackson, President of the Template:Ency entity and Professor at Hull and Dr. ZHICHANG ZHU were Programme Organizers co-chairmen
