Channels for any kind of communications must be constructed and maintained. H. ODUM states: “The many channels required to make the special chemical and physical structures for maintaining ordered networks take much work and therefore much metabolic energy” (1971, p.98).
This is also true for non-biological systems, as may be observed in any human organization.
