Dr. Juan Lobos is a distinguished materials scientist and researcher with a career spanning three continents, dedicated to translating laboratory innovation into industrial competitiveness. His work is defined by a mission to use science as a direct engine for economic resilience and social well-being.
He began his journey with a Master's in Physics and a Ph.D. in Materials Science (2012) from the University of Valladolid, specializing in lightweight structural foams for the automotive industry. His pursuit of novel materials propelled him to the international stage, first to Osaka University in Japan, where he developed structural porous metals, and then to the University of Pittsburgh as a postdoctoral researcher, where he engineered advanced bio-polymer foams.
In 2014, Dr. Lobos joined Yachay Tech University in Ecuador, where he dedicated a decade to applied science. Rising from lecturer to Associate Professor, he led multidisciplinary projects aimed at strengthening the nation's industry and founded a new Master's degree in STEAM education.
Starting in 2025, he will bring this wealth of experience to the Faculty of Business and Technology at UDIMA (Universidad a Distancia de Madrid), where he will continue his work at the intersection of new materials and industrial solutions.
