Object type Methodology or model

A variable which enhances the capacity of the system to reach a specific goal.

G. KLIR states: “By applying (such a) variable as an additional input to the goal-implementing element, its performance with respect to the goal increases” (1991, p.146).

KLIR also explains how a goal-seeking variable should be selected, adding that “The main difficulty in selecting a proper goal-seeking variable is that its influence upon the goal variables is usually not fully known” (p. 148) and must thus be previously investigated.
