- “A system state which cannot anymore be occupied again when that system reaches one of its equilibrium states” (After K. KRIPPENDORFF, 1986, p.77).
KRIPPENDORFF states that transient states occur during the growth of a system, or during evolutive processes, and even in social and technological development. He adds the very important observation that “Behavior involving transient states is also non-ergodic” (Ibid).
The contemporary growing general economical, social and political mayhem very probably is a succession of transient states for humanity evolving towards its planetary integration. Transient states seem also related to dissipative processes in systems far-from-equilibrium.
