W. R. ASHBY thus describes the ultrastable systems behavior: “(it) acts selectively towards the fields of the main variables, rejecting those that lead the representative point to a critical state but retaining those that do not” (1958, p.91).

In other words, the ultrastable system remains within the limits of a basin or vecinity defined by a stable attractor.
