- “A system that has the property of reaching the same final state almost regardless of the initial state and input sequence” (G. WEINBERG, 1975, p.209).
There is a hidden paradox in this concept. Each system has only one way to go to its final state: the experience cannot be repeated. Various systems may of course be compared. But no two systems are identical, so this too is unconclusive.
The only absolute equifinal property has been deftly described by St. BEER: “Death is equifinal”. This reflects basic thermodynamics.
