“A behavior system is defined by a time-invariant relation among selected present, past, or future states of the variables in the experimental frame” (G. KLIR, 1988, p.151).

KLIR comments: “… The states are selected by a mask through which we observe given activity and take samples corresponding to different time instants” (1988, p.151).

This implies that, for some purpose, we focus our attention onto some type(s) of behavior, possibly or even probably ignoring others.
