R.L. FLOOD in his work published under this title (1990), argues that Systems theory must be “liberating”, i.e reveal lost or suppressed knowledges in general, and even in Systems theory itself. This is related to the dominance of restrictive scientific and cultural paradigms, many times manifested through power relations and ideological biases.
The problem is obviously to avoid replacing some types of biases and power politics (not only present in politics) by others. Systems theory should be carefully watched over by systemists and non-systemists in order to avoid such risks. We would have to undertake a serious inquiry about the systemic significance of coercion, power abuse and ideologies.
