According to BLAUBERG et al.: “the main tasks of the logic and methodology of systems research may be listed as follows:

- the construction of conceptual means — systems of concepts, conceptual models of a special type, etc… — for the expression (representation) of the systems nature of corresponding objects.

- the evolvement of apparatus for the description of the most important characteristics of systems objects - connections (including their typology), systems of connections, interrelations of system and environment, the hierarchical structure of systems, problems of control, etc.

- the construction of formalized systems for the description of systems objects, including the formulation of specific rules of inference for such systems“ (Ibid, p.88).
