The Systeem Groep Nederland is one of the oldest Systems Society in existence. It “supports and promotes professional interests and ideas on the subject and serves as a base for the exchange and distribution of the results of research”.

The S.G.N. publishes the Journal “Systemica” since 1980. It also organizes international conferences on generally quite original thematics related to cybernetics and systemics as for example: “Knowledge (dis)emergence”, “Mutual uses of Cybernetics and Science”, or “Problems of (Im)Possible Worlds”.

The S.G.N. has been one of the three original founders of the International Federation for Systems Research and took charge for some quite critical years of the publication of “Systems Research”, the Federation's Journal.
