R. NUMMELA CAINE and M. CAINE resume as follows in systemic terms the self-concept as elaborated by a number of theorists: “The self is a uniquely organized system make up of beliefs , biases, memories , predispositions, expectations, knowledge , fears, reactions , behaviors , talents and meanings ” (1994, p.136).
What would be needed is a way to relate more precisely among themselves all these components … and moreover, give them an adaptive dynamics, i.e an autogenesis and an autopoiesis of the self.
The authors contribute an interesting, if still partial, proposal to achieve this, namely their concept of learning as self-reorganization .
