A system favoured by reward loops obtained from other systems has a better survival rate than others who do not obtain such benefits.
H.T. ODUM who — in an implicite way — introduces this principle, observes however: “Either too much or too little growth by one component puts the loop out of harmonious flow” (1971, p.150).
And: “Species whose work efforts are not reinforced are shortly eliminated, for they run out of either raw materials or energy. They must be connected to input and output flows to survive” (Ibid).
The principle applies to many different kind of systems as for example: a cancerous growth, an invading weed, a successful business, a learning brain, etc…
