The process of dissipation of energy in a system.
I. PRIGOGINE emphasizes that: “Dissipative processes that destroy structure at and near equilibrium, may create these structures when sufficiently far- from- equilibrium” (1984, p.47).
In such cases, the system is trying to cope with an overload of energy through the search for a new dynamic equilibrium at a higher level of complexity.
