In systemic terms, the most important priorities are the global and the long term ones. This unfortunately is quite contradictory to the generally short term vision and interests of individuals and communities, who consciously or not, are frequently disposed to sacrifice median or long term futures for quick benefits. G. HARDIN described a typical aspect of violation of global priorities in his “Tragedy of Commons”… without much real echo.

Template:Ency entity recommands to give highest priority to “urgent requirements to prevent further irreversible damage to living resources, e.g. extinction of species, loss of life support systems, etc…” (Template:Ency entity-Template:Ency entity, p.22).

The re-orientation of global priorities is a matter of re-education, mainly at deciders levels, a very tall order indeed. It is to be feared that priorities will be modified only after the occurence of considerable disasters, which would be nature's feedback to human abuse.
