Object type Methodology or model

A place in the boundary of a system or subsystem through which it emits some specific type of outputs.

Outlets generally have a closing/opening device which control the outputs in time.

In Spanish, there is a frequent confusion, probably due to incorrect use of accounting vocabulary, between the outlet and the output, both named “salida”. This term has been now restricted to the meaning of outlet, while “output” is presently translated as “egreso”.

The same problem has been solved in French through the introduction of “intrant” (for input, in lieu of “entr+e”) and “extrant” (for output, in lieu of “sortie”) (R. VALLÉE). However, these terms are not yet of general use.
