A consensual vision and understanding of some part of the universe, obtained by a group of observers.
The concept has been proposed by H. MATURANA, within the frame of his physio-psychological study of the limits of perception and conceptualization, which led him to his “constitutive ontology”.
It can be connected with G. JUMARIE relativistic theory of information (1980).
Moreover, according to MATURANA, also every individual lives in a multiverse (1988, p. 31, 1997), in accordance with the different selected domains of his/her experience, as for example scientific research, music, games, etc.
As expressed by J. MINGERS: “This appears to be close to SCHUTZ's (1967) ideas, within phenomenological sociology that individuals experience their lives within finite provinces of meaning and that consequently there exist multiple realities ” (1990, p.577).
Of course, this view is a consequence of accepting only, or at least, to prefer, the subjective meaning of “reality ”.
