F. ROBB considers morphogenesis as the basic process leading to emergence: “Morphogenesis, the emergence of a system of higher logical order or the construction of the existant order, involves dissipating much more free energy and would be a much more powerful attractor than morphostasis, providing, as it does, many positive amplifying feedback loops. Once the conditions are ripe for morphogenesis there must follow a cascade of events leading to a more efficient energy dissipating system ”(1990, p.141).
Dissipation, in the BÉNARD's sense, produces structuration, i.e. the appearance of new “forms”. In this way the use of the word “morphogenesis” (shaping of form) seems justifiable.
