Strong links in systems are quite rigid, as they are difficult to break.

On the contrary, weak links can be easily losened, but also easily constructed. This is a significant condition for adaptability in complex systems , from molecules to brains and, probably all types of social systems . For examples in chemistry, see J. THOMAS (1998)
