T.ÖREN did elaborate a general taxonomy of knowledge representation and processing (1990, p.1-55).
His general focus is on informatics and computer processing and his vocabulary is, accordingly, more or less specialized. This terminology should be carefully evaluated in comparison with its commonly accepted meanings.
Moreover his concept of knowledge is very close to the concept of information and quite close to the meaning given to the word “knowledge” in expert systems. This is practically in frontal contradiction with H.von FOERSTER's view: Knowledge is not a commodity.
However, it is also interesting to ponder ÖREN's ideas from various different viewpoints, as for example:
- Similarities and differences between natural and artificial intelligence;
- Brain organization and neuro-chemistry;
- Artificial and natural neural nets and connection machines;
- Learning processes;
