The determination of a value in a function intermediate between known values, using some procedure or algorithm.
The soundness of interpolations depend on the soundness of the procedure, because the regularity or continuity of the function may not be secure.
This in turn reflects the possibility that the modelized process may present unsuspected and irregular variations in the unexplored intervals.
Interpolations suppose a well established determinism of some kind and are thus very risky in processes that could be chaotic under a deterministic appearence.
