“The operations that provide for (1) the interaction between the system and its environment, (2) the identification of systems-relevant input, and (3) the introduction of systems-relevant input into the system” (B. BANATHY,.1973, p.87).

Subsystems also have input processing devices. In this case, inputs generaly come from other subsystems (invironment).

The following critical subsystems described by J. MILLER take part in input processing: Boundary (in general), ingestor for matter and energy, input transducer (for information).
