- “The number of independently variable features or degrees of freedoom of a representation” (D. Mac KAY, 1969, p.176).
Mac KAY states :“Structural information is not concerned with the number of elements in a pattern, but with the possibility of distinguishing between them” (p.165).
In Mac KAY's terminology (in this case adopted from GABOR), structural information is made of units, named logons.
Similarly, M. MARUYAMA states: “Information is specificity, structuredness and improbability” (1994, p.83).
