A kind of Template:Ency term which is known to contain some internal intervening Template:Ency term acting as links between Template:Ency term and Template:Ency term.

In a grey box, at least something is known about the inner Template:Ency term of the box.

According to Template:Ency person, Template:Ency term are grey boxes, which may be Template:Ency term if the same types of Template:Ency term produce the same Template:Ency term, or Template:Ency term if they produce only probable Template:Ency term. (1979, p.263).

Such Template:Ency term “are of greater interest than Template:Ency term because, unlike the latter, they take into account not only the Template:Ency term but also the internal Template:Ency term of a system” (Ibid). Template:Ency term are similar to grey boxes, in that we know something of their internal Template:Ency term, but not enough to make them perfectly, or even reasonably Template:Ency term.
