Any oriented graph used to represent the multiple interconnexions in a complex function in a biological organism or a human organization.
N. RASHEVSKY showed how to establish graphs of this type. Such graphs correspond to a very general type and can be used as isomorphic functional models of numerous and very different classes of systems. RASHEVSKY gave many examples in his paper and, moreover, showed how to interconnect various partial graphs which represent different specific aspects of a complex systemic function. (1956, p.l26-34; also 1950, p.345-70).
St. BEER states: “The vertices of a graph are regarded as elements of a set which is mapped into itself, of which set the graph is then a multi-valued function” (1968, p.218).
