I. BLAUBERG et al., develop an idea akin to SOMMERHOFF's one in the following terms: “The adequate specification of the goals of a given system organization requires the preliminary determination of the goals of a larger system which includes the given one. This is a necessary condition for determining the real functions of a given system within a certain larger whole; this functions and thus the goals of a given system are obtained from an analysis of a certain set of mutually dependent functions and goals of a larger system…” (1977, p.277).

In HEGEL's terms, who of the master and the slave is, in the end, the master? It would seem, in view of the obvious interdependence, no one… or both.
