A process that leads to the development of self-similar structures at different levels.
This process is a very general one and has been recognized in a great variety of natural phenomena, e.g. numerous biological structures in vegetals and animals; of the snowflakes; of coastlines, etc. Fractal scaling has been easily mimicked on computers and could readily be related to some formerly enigmatic topological forms (Fractal curves, surfaces and volumes), as well as to the “WEIERSTRASS function”.
