In an ecological sense, an excessive increase of some input in an ecosystem.

According to S. REICE, “Enrichment events often constitute disturbances… (or) can be viewed as the indirect cause of the disturbance” (1994, p.428).

This is for example the case of a lake's eutrophication due to a considerable surfeit of nutrients.

More generally, in any system the excessive supply of some input creates a disbalance conducive to disturbance.
