Object type Methodology or model

A curve representing a long- or very long-term process, which includes more or less self-similar curves at medium and/or short term.

This notion was introduced by F. ZWICKY (1971) for use in forecasting.

It was however already implicit in K. WEIERSTRASS }'s renormalization \term{function. It has also be used by F. MEYER (1954) to emphasize the evolutive acceleration process.

The subject could be related to ergodicity, deterministic chaos and, possibly to a fractal concept of time.
