A way to control a chaotic system by short bursts of intervention in its behavior at calculated moments.
This technique has been established on a mathematical basis by E. OTT et al. (1990).
It has been succesfully applied to artificial satellites orbits in order to reduce fuel consumption when orbital corrections are needed. However, very complex chaotic systems , as for ex. atmospheric perturbations , cannot yet be controlled in this way, due to the considerable number of interacting elements .
