T.A. and W. MILLINGTON state: “All classes of measurements, objects, persons, etc., must be defined between precise limits so that no one member of the class may, inadvertently, be put into more than one class” (1966, p.43).

However, in some cases, the practical impossibility to obtain such precise definition led L.A. ZADEH to the concept of fuzzy set.
