This Centre, based at the Institute of Mathematics, University of Liège, Belgium, is focusing its activity on anticipatory processes and systems, in atransdisciplinary spirit.

Its founder and mentor, Prof. Daniel Dubois, writes: “Anticipation is not only a property of biosystems, but is also a fundamental property of physical systems. In electromagnetism, the anticipation is related to the Lorenz transform. In this framework, the anticipation is a strong anticipation because it is not based on a prediction from a model of the physical system, but is embedded in the fundamental system”.

In fact, the proceedings of the yearly meetings of the CHAOS Centre (organized since 1997) show a widely embracing transdisciplinary viewpoint. Published papers include not only general concepts and models , but also anticipatory studies related to biological systems, psychology, psychiatry, linguistics , economics and social systems.

Papers also consider modelling means as neural networks , genetic algorithms , automata , holograms , fractals , etc.

The Centre publishes its “ Template:Ency entity- International Journal of computing Anticipatory Systems”
