A sequential graphical model that aims at the complete description of the antecedents and consequences of some event .
This a very practical systemic tool for risk analysis and assessment , based on preliminary studies of specific cases in some activity, generally industrial. Its use aims at the better understanding of what should be or not be done at each moment during the succesive stages of some critical situation .
A. LEROY and J.P. SIGNORET, who describe the methodology , based on binary sequences of successive alternatives, give an interesting example of its use as applied to some risky incidents in oil extraction at sea. (1992, p. 34-5).
The methodology is quite similar to expert systems .
