This term, introduced in 1940 by R. GERARD, corresponds more or less to J. MILLER's “living system”, but did not met with wide acceptation. (1956, p.158; 1974, p.121)
As a subclass of animorgs, GERARD distinguished “epiorganisms”, i.e. colonies or societies made of individuals. (1956, p.158)
