Emilia Currás (1927–2020) was a Spanish chemist, information scientist, and historian of science, a pioneer in the consolidation of Documentation and Information Science in Spain and the Spanish-speaking world. Holding a PhD in Chemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid, she pursued an international career as a researcher and professor, contributing a scientific and epistemological perspective on information and the organization of knowledge. She developed a theory of “Informacionismo”, descrived by herself in a homonymous article in the glossariumBITri, where she articulated her reflections on the nature of information, its historical dimension, and its social and cognitive implications. From the foundation of BITrum, she actively participated in building an interdisciplinary approach to information theory.
