Sonia Sánchez-Cuadrado is a professor and researcher in Library and Information Science at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). She is currently Deputy Director of the Centro Complutense para la Enseñanza del Español and has coordinated the M.Sc. in Documentation Management, Libraries and Archives. She teaches information retrieval, SEO and Representation of Knowledge Organization Systems in the B.Sc. in Library and Information Science and the M.Sc. in Information Management, Libraries and Archives.

Her research area, which embraces Information Engineering and Information Retrieval, is currently focused on NLP, Knowledge Organization Systems, Information Retrieval and SEO, digital literacy, digital repository and readability, reflected in her extensive scientific production (published in indexed journals and books, and protected by patents). Related to these fields, she has participated in numerous national and international projects, involving, among other areas, knowledge representation, knowledge organisation systems, analysis of text complexity regarding understanding, and assistance for plain language. Currently conducting research on plain language for the understanding of administrative information aimed at citizens.
